About Us |
|
The State Bank of Prairie du Rocher was established in 1906 at the corner of Market and DuClos Streets. In November of 1984, a fire destroyed two adjacent businesses. Bank management was able to buy the property and started building a new facility in 1985. The building's architectural design adapts well to the community's French heritage. The new Main Office was dedicated in May of 1986.
The State Bank of Prairie du Rocher established its first branch facility in December 1999. The location is 1320 West Market, Red Bud, Illinois. Both locations have a full service facility with a convenient 24-hour ATM. At State Bank of Prairie du Rocher, we specialize in customer service. Prairie du Rocher - or "Prairie by the Rock" - was founded in 1722, making it the oldest continuous settlement in Illinois. The town was centrally located in a major French farming area which produced enormous amounts of grain for shipment to New Orleans and then on to French-controlled islands in the Caribbean. Each June and November you can experience the days of early New France at the bi-annual Fort de Chartres Rendezvous, complete with period music, dance and food. Approximately 1,500 participants in authentic costumes portraying fur trappers, Indians, craftsmen, soldiers and musicians erect more than 300 authentic camps outside the fort's massive stone walls and recreate life of the 1750s. |
